The hemp palm is not just a houseplant. It likes it cooler all year round than other palm species and is even hardy. If you have no other option, you can overwinter them in a suitable place or in your apartment.
How can you overwinter a hemp palm in your apartment?
To overwinter a hemp palm in your home, it should be in a cool (6-10 degrees Celsius) and bright place, ideally with direct sunlight. Continue to water moderately, as it has no rest period and just grows more slowly.
Keep the hemp palm cooler in winter
So that the hemp palm survives the winter well in the apartment, keep it a little cooler. While it likes temperatures of up to 20 degrees in summer, temperatures range from six to ten degrees during the winter.
However, the place must be very bright and can also get direct sun.
Watering continues moderately during the winter, as the hemp palm does not take a break. It just grows slower because it lacks light.
Tip
Basically, it is cheaper to overwinter a hemp palm outside. Young hemp palms survive the winter in a protected place in the pot. You can plant older plants completely outdoors in spring.
