Sometimes it can happen that the flamingo flower produces new flowers, but they are no longer colored red or white as before, but green. It is not uncommon for the bracts of these plants to turn greenish due to the aging process. However, there can also be care errors.
Why does my anthurium have green flowers?
If anthuriums produce green flowers instead of red or white, this may be due to a location that is too dark or due to declining hormones. A plant lamp can solve the light problem, while hormone-related changes are usually unavoidable.
Is the plant too dark?
So that the anthurium can fully develop the bright color of the bracts, the location must be bright enough, but direct sunlight should be avoided. However, sometimes the natural light on the windowsill is not enough, for example because a large roof overhang creates too much shading. A plant lamp that is switched on hourly (€89.00 on Amazon) can help here.
Tip
There are also flamingo flowers that are treated with hormones for sale and therefore bloom bright white. If the effect of these substances wears off, the flowers become slightly greenish. Unfortunately, there is little that can be done about it. However, this rarer flower color can also give the plant its special appeal.
