Perennial care in September
When replanting your garden with perennials in the fall, it can make sense to limit the spread of individual species. With this strategy you significantly promote the growth of weaker plants. While the complete pruning of the plants or mowing should preferably take place later in the winter, the main task in autumn is to clean the planting areas and remove dried parts of the plants. When it comes to removing weeds from perennial beds, weeding by hand is clearly preferable to hoeing. Watering, mulching and fertilizing often contribute to unwanted vitalization, especially in perennial plants. This work should therefore only be carried out rarely and depending on the current plant growth and the weather.
