In natural ponds, pond filters and pond pumps have an extremely visually disturbing effect. You can read about how best to “hide” them and what creative options there are for disguises in our article.
How can you creatively disguise a pond filter?
To disguise the pond filter and pond pump in a visually appealing way, you can use decorative rocks, small houses, decorative barrels, a treasure chest, hollow tree stumps or planted bowls. Be sure to keep cleaning indicators clearly visible and equipment easily accessible.
Optical impairment
Pond filter and pond pump with their plastic housings do not suit a natural-looking pond. They appear out of place and disturbing and therefore usually catch the eye immediately.
To conceal them visually, you can easily dress them up. However, you must make sure that you still have sufficient access to the devices:
- to dismantle them
- to open it when needed
- to clean them
- to be able to read the cleaning display
Casings must therefore always be designed in such a way that they allow easy access to the devices and can also be completely removed (e.g. when pond filters and pond pumps are dismantled during the winter months and stored in the house).
Coatings in stores
Most of the claddings offered in stores are designed as “decorative rocks”. They look quite convincing visually and fit well into many plant environments.
If you don't particularly like this “uniform design”, you can also use more creative options.
Disguise as a little house
House-shaped cladding is very popular. The small houses look like model houses and are often lovingly executed: with half-timbering or thatched roof, true to the original with windows, doors and masonry or even as a complete complex of several houses next to each other.
Creative disguises
Basically, you can use any material and any decorative object that can accommodate a pond filter and pond pump. The possibilities are almost endless:
Simply take an old decorative barrel and place the pond pump and pond filter in it. You can then conveniently guide the spout straight through the bunghole of the keg.
Build a “treasure chest” or a pirate chest for the pond bank and store the two devices in it. If the box is a little larger, you can also store a few pond accessories.
A hollow tree stump or a planted bowl can also be used to accommodate a pond filter and pond pump.
Tip
Above all, make sure that you can still read the cleaning indicators on the pond filter clearly and comfortably - they are important in operation.
