The relatively easy-care indoor linden tree is not very susceptible to diseases and/or pests, although both occasionally occur. The reasons are different, usually the location is unsuitable or the care has some (small) errors.

What diseases and pests can affect indoor linden trees?

Common diseases of the linden tree are leaf loss, yellow or brown leaves and horny shoots without leaves, usually caused by unfavorable location conditions or care errors. Pests such as spider mites, whiteflies and scale insects can also occur, especially if the plant overwinters in too dark or warm conditions.

What diseases does the linden tree suffer from most often?

If you consider diseases in your linden tree to mean all deviations from the normal condition, then leaf loss and discoloration are part of it. If it is watered with water that is too cold or too much, it will drop its leaves, but also if it is waterlogged, lacking water or drafty.

If the leaves of the linden tree turn yellow, then it is obviously suffering from a deficiency. Either it was watered too little or fertilized too little, or perhaps both apply. Make up for your omission immediately and the linden tree will recover. If there is a lack of light, the flowering of your indoor linden tree will be delayed or stop.

If your linden tree gets brown spots on the leaves or if they turn completely brown, then the plant has definitely got sunburn. It should not be placed in an unshaded south-facing window. In the summer she is welcome to move into the garden or onto the balcony, but even here she cannot tolerate direct sun unprotected, even though she is very hungry for light.

Diseases of the linden tree:

  • Loss of leaves
  • yellow leaves
  • brown leaves or brown spots on the leaves
  • Hot shoots without leaves

Does the linden tree often suffer from pests?

Depending on the season and location, the linden tree suffers to a greater or lesser extent from pest infestation. If your linden tree is outside in the garden or on the balcony in summer, scale insects and aphids appear relatively often, as well as whiteflies.

If you overwinter your linden tree in an unsuitable place, an infestation with scale insects, aphids or mealybugs can occur. In this case it is probably too dark and/or too warm for the plant. Because indoor linden trees like it rather cool and very bright.

Possible pests for the linden tree:

  • Spider mites
  • whiteflies
  • Scale insects

Tip

In the right location and with a minimum of care, your linden tree should remain he althy and grow quickly.
