Very decorative and not difficult to care for, the ash flower is an ornament in the garden, on the balcony or in the apartment. But it doesn't like it too warm, so it's more suitable for a winter garden than the living room.
How do you properly care for an ash flower?
The ash flower requires a bright, cool location (16-18 °C), humus-rich, permeable soil and regular watering without waterlogging. In winter it should be kept at 10-15 °C and watered less. Fertilizing is recommended from April to August. Attention: it is susceptible to lice.
Planting the ash flower
In summer you can plant your ash flower in the garden bed, but planting it in a bucket is more flexible. It prefers humus-rich and well-drained soil. Although it likes it bright, it doesn't tolerate the blazing sun very well. If it is too warm or too dark for the ash flower, then its blooms will suffer.
Water and fertilize the ash flower
The ash flower is one of the very thirsty plants and should therefore be watered abundantly without causing waterlogging. Also avoid pouring the water directly onto the leaves, the ash flower doesn't like that very much.
From April to August, add liquid fertilizer (€6.00 on Amazon) to the irrigation water once a week. After flowering, stop fertilizing slowly so that the ash flower can prepare for winter.
The ash flower in winter
Your ash flower spends the winter best in a bright winter quarters at temperatures between 10 °C and 15 °C. Water moderately, but do not allow the root ball to dry out. However, fertilizing is not necessary.
