Description
This event is something very special, because Eller Castle, which is otherwise not open to the public, opens its doors on the occasion of the Düsseldorf Autumn Festival. In the halls, the vaulted cellar and the adjacent castle park, which were extensively renovated between 2008 and 2010, 120 exhibitors present exclusive items that beautify the house and garden. The offering ranges from plants and garden interiors to fine jewelry and fashionable accessories and lifestyle items.
Of course, culinary delights are also provided. Speci alties from all over the world and regional wines will delight even the most discerning palate. In the beautifully landscaped castle courtyard you can relax and enjoy live music.
Excursion tip
The botanical garden of the University of Düsseldorf is also worth a visit. Entry to this plant paradise is free. One of the visitor magnets is the tropical house, where you can admire numerous extraordinary plants. Not far from the main entrance, a delicate dome catches the eye. Inside there is a cold house, tailored to the special needs of some plants.
As the complex is very spacious, it is ideal for a family outing. There is an area with benches where you can picnic or relax amidst the green oasis.
Tip
The Museum of European Garden Art Düsseldorf is thematically unique. It offers an overview of Europe's 2,500-year garden history on 2,000 square meters of exhibition space. Each room appears slightly different and is lovingly designed. Interactive presentations complement the offering and make this museum also interesting for children.
