Whether as a gap filler between petunias and marigolds or individually in a pot on the balcony - the lobelias look simply fantastic with their sky blue flowers. But they don't feel equally well cared for everywhere
Where should lobelias be planted in the garden or on the balcony?
Lobelias prefer sunny to partially shaded, protected locations in order to feel comfortable and produce numerous flowers. Suitable partner plants are geraniums, petunias, sun roses, marigolds, fire sage, gold baskets and bluebells.
The love for sun and warmth is enormous
Lobelias long for sunshine and warmth. They need a lot of light to feel comfortable and produce numerous flowers. Protected and sunny to partially shaded locations are therefore ideal.
Suitable partners at the location
When it comes to care, lobelias complement many other flowers and perennials. So they can be kept perfectly in the neighborhood of the following specimens:
- Geraniums
- Petunias
- Sun Beauty
- Student flowers
- Fire Sage
- Gold basket
- Bluebells
Tip
In winter, lobelias don't need space on the balcony, terrace or in the garden bed. They don't survive the winter and can be ripped out in October. This creates space for planting other plants.
