In mild winters, the cornelian cherry opens its flowers at the end of February. Golden yellow they are extremely attractive. From September onwards, fruits ripen from them, which taste very delicious and can be made into jam or compote.
Early spring cyclamen
Cyclamen beautifies many living spaces in the cold season. But there are also representatives of the species that are cultivated outdoors. The early spring cyclamen blooms here from mid-February in mild winters. The flower color of this delicate plant varies from white to pink to carmine red. It thrives particularly well on calcareous soils in partially shaded places in front of deciduous trees, where it forms colorful carpets of flowers.

Flowers like the winter aconite or the snowdrop push their buds out of the ground when the snow begins to thaw. They take advantage of the fact that everything is still bare and no other plants shade them. Over the years they form dense carpets of flowers.
