Habaneros are one of the most popular chili varieties in this country because of their pronounced spiciness. But the eye is not neglected either. The numerous varieties are interestingly shaped and offer a wide range of colors. We present a few special specimens.
What types of Habanero are there?
There are numerous varieties of Habanero, including Habanero Orange (hotness level 10), Habanero Red (hotness level 10), Habanero Purple (hotness level 10), Habanero Mustard (hotness level 10), Chocolate (hotness level 10), Habanero Red Savina (spiciness level 10), Sweet Habanero (spiciness level 0) and Habanero Santa Lucia (spiciness level 8). The varieties vary in color, shape and spiciness.
Habanero Orange
The fruits of this variety are bright orange in color after ripening. They reach a length of 30 to 40 cm and a width of 20 to 30 cm. Their shape is reminiscent of a folded lantern.

Habanero Red
This variant is one of the hottest chilies in the world and at the same time offers a fruity aroma. The fruits are also folded like a lantern, but turn red when ripe.

Habanero Purple
This chilli variety comes from the USA. The fruits are about 5 cm long and about 3 cm wide. When unripe they are still green. When you harvest them after about 100 days of ripening, they will have turned purple.

Habanero Mustard
The fruits, which are approximately 5 cm long, are heavily folded and thick-fleshed. They are initially green to purple in color and turn yellow to mustard as they ripen.

Chocolate
The shape of its fruits is typical Habanero: folded. But the chocolate brown color stands out and gave this variety its name. Its sharpness appears somewhat hesitantly at the beginning, but then develops with full force.

Habanero Red Savina
From 1994 to 2006, this variety was considered the hottest chili in the world. It is a protected Californian variety and is therefore rarely available outside of the USA. Its distinctive fruit aroma is reminiscent of oranges.

Tip
You don't have to let a surplus harvest of this variety go to waste. The fruits are easy to dry and can then be ground into powder.
Sweet Habanero
This variety offers a fruity aroma, but completely omits the spiciness. It is ideal for anyone who doesn't like or can't tolerate spicy food. The fruits are orange, round and wrinkled.

Habanero Santa Lucia
This is a not so spicy breed. The fruits are red, wrinkled and have the dimensions of a. 3x4cm. Cultivation is rewarded with a high harvest yield.
