Who says that clay pots are only suitable as planters. With a little creativity, the containers can be turned into an impressive garden decoration. It doesn't necessarily just have to be clay pots. You can even create beautiful works of art from broken pieces. Do not you believe? Then be sure to take a look at this article.
How can I make garden decorations out of clay myself?
Making your own garden decorations out of clay is easy and creative: create birdhouses out of old vases, decorate plant pots with colorful mosaic stones, create miniature villages or relax with DIY lanterns and wind chimes made from clay.
For animals
Birdhouse
You probably still have old clay vases that are a bit out of fashion and therefore lead a dreary existence in the attic.
- Close the opening.
- Carefully drill a hole about three quarters below the top edge.
- Hang the vases on a cord in a protected place.
In addition to this variant, there is of course the well-known method of building a birdhouse. To do this, use conventional clay pots that you can paint as you wish. The latter option is better if you are doing crafts with your children. Alternatively, hang a suet ball in a clay pot and let it hang from a branch.
For plants
Decorated Planter
Does your clay pot seem a bit dreary and clunky? Use colorful mosaic stones to transform the plant pot into an eye-catcher. You can give your plant pot a face with your own pottery pieces. How about a funny cat, for example? Of course, you can still plant plants in your clay pot.
Little village
Paint windows and doors on small clay pots, decorate them with roofs and chimneys and sprinkle a small path system made of gravel into your bed. Create a small town this way. Maybe one or two ladybugs will move in.
To relax
Lanterns
Clay (€14.00 at Amazon) is available at a craft store for little money. If you don't know the subject very well, small lanterns are a good way to get started. To do this, simply form small cups and provide them with a hole. Then put a tea light in it.
Wind chimes
If you are a little more experienced, you can make small tubes with different diameters. You attach these to a string on a clay plate, hang it on a tree and let the wind play music.
