How do you make garden decorations out of clay pots?
You can create garden decorations from clay pots in the form of creative figures, nesting boxes, insect hotels or bed decorations. To do this, paint, plant and combine the pots in the appropriate style and stage them, e.g. as a ladybug, beehive or lighthouse.
Small table decoration
Ladybug
- First paint a small clay pot with red paint (€6.00 on Amazon)
- and later with black dots.
- Paint a round stone black.
- Glue eyes on the stone.
- Turn the clay pot upside down and glue the head to the bottom edge.
- Your ladybug is ready.
Little Men
- Place two clay pots on top of each other so that the bottoms touch.
- Paint a face on the top pot.
- Make arms and legs from other small clay pots that you string on a string.
- Attach these to the “body”.
- Plant herbs in the top clay pot.
Crocodile
- Paint several small clay pots dark green.
- Place them together.
- A slightly smaller clay pot serves as the snout and you place it right at the front.
- Glue small googly eyes on the crocodile and make legs out of wooden sticks.
Nest boxes and insect hotels
Beehive
- Cut a small hole at the top of the clay pot.
- Seal the hole at the bottom.
- Paint the clay pot like a beehive.
- If you like, you can make little bees yourself.
- Place the “beehive” upside down near a bed.
Bird feeder
- Knot a wooden stick to a string.
- Thread this through the hole in the bottom of a clay pot so that the wooden stick is inside.
- Of course this has to be longer than the hole diameter.
- Attach a suet ball to the pot in the same way.
- Now the wooden stick must be on the outside and the fat ball must be dangling from the inside.
- Now hang the clay pot in a tree.
In the bed
Plant stick
- Put several clay pots over a metal rod.
- Fill the pots with soil.
- Plant the pots with succulents.
- Insert the metal rod into the bed.
Lighthouse
- Paint a few clay pots each red or white.
- Place them together alternately.
- Paint additional windows on your lighthouse.
- Tip: the lighthouse looks particularly beautiful in a bowl filled with gravel or sand.
