How do you attach a trellis correctly?
To properly attach a trellis, you should use cable ties, pipe clamps or special dowels, depending on the surface. Make sure there is sufficient distance between the trellis and the house wall to avoid moisture accumulation. Use the appropriate tool such as a universal drill, impact drill or hammer drill for fastening.

Constructions such as balcony railings, fences or rainwater downpipes offer an ideal basis for planting. Here you can attach the trellis with cable ties, provided you are not using plants with thick branches. Pipe clamps serve as a more durable and stable alternative. Downpipes can be hidden behind semicircular trellises, which you can also attach with clamps.
Support pillars and posts
Light trellises that offer a small surface area for wind to attack can be fastened to the ground using a ground anchor or drive-in ground sleeves. If the climbing frame is to carry a higher weight, it is important to anchor the supporting columns. A foundation ensures that the plants grow stably for many years. Column or formwork stones are ideal for giving the pillars a secure hold.

House wall

Claws ensure a secure hold, while the collar prevents it from slipping during assembly. If you would like to plant climbing plants with a higher weight on the trellis, long dowels are recommended. They are characterized by higher bending strength and ensure deeper anchoring. In this way, they can easily withstand vertical loads.
Tip
Depending on the type of plant, you must ensure a distance of between three and 20 centimeters between the trellis and the house wall. This will prevent moisture from accumulating.

A universal drill is used to drill holes in wood, ceramics, tiles or metal. If the facade is made of harder materials such as clinker brick, concrete or medium-hard natural stone, a hammer drill is recommended. If the masonry is plastered, the impact function does not need to be switched on. Masonry and particularly hard walls can be worked on with a hammer drill. Its impact power is sufficient for drilling holes in various types of stone. You can drill hard metals with a double-edge drill attachment.
