Forget-me-not is ideal as a ground cover and impresses with its colorful flowers. Forest forget-me-nots, Lake Constance forget-me-nots and Caucasus forget-me-nots are particularly suitable. They require regular watering, planting spacing of 15-20 cm and can be annual or perennial.

- TheBodensee forget-me-not (Myosotis rhesteinen) forms beautiful blue carpets with a maximum height of 10 cm.
- TheCaucasus forget-me-not (Omphalodes cappadocica) grows up to 15 cm high and blooms in the most beautiful sky blue.
Most species tolerate a sunny location without problems.
What needs to be taken into account when caring for the ground cover?
In principle, the forget-me-not is an undemanding plant both as a ground cover and in a pot. The following planting and care tips should be observed:
- plant after the last frosts, about 6 plants per square meter with a planting distance of about 15 to 20 cm
- water regularly, preferably in the morning or evening
- do not water over flowers and leaves
- regularly faded and yellow leavespicking off
- Cut out old branches regularly
If you want to sow forget-me-nots as seeds, do so in June or July.
When is forget-me-not flowering as a ground cover?
Forget-me-not bloomsfrom April to June, some varieties also delight with their beautiful, colored flowers until July or August.
Is forget-me-not an annual or perennial?
You have to differentiate here. There areboth annualvarieties that die back in winteras well as perennial and winter-hardy varieties that lose their leaves in winter but fresh ones again in spring get shoots. The annual varieties can multiply by self-sowing after flowering and will also delight you with new flowers next year. Annual and perennial varieties are equally suitable as ground cover.
