When is cherimoya in season?
The Cherimoya is in seasonfrom September to February. It is therefore one of the winter fruits and brings variety to the home fruit basket in the cold season.
When can you buy cherimoya?
Cherimoyas are availablein the fall and winter months according to the harvest season. In addition to fruits from South America (Mexico, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia), cherimoyas are also available from southern European countries such as Spain and Italy. The fruits are also grown in Israel and can be purchased from us during the season from September to February. They are generally harvested when unripe and are sometimes still relatively firm when purchased. Cherimoyas are eaten ripe. Caution: The seeds are poisonous.
Can you store chermoya fruits beyond the season?
The shelf life of the exotic fruits, which can also be grown in our latitudes, cannotbe extended beyond the season The cherimoya with its scale pattern on the edible peel should be eaten ripe and cannot be frozen, dried or otherwise preserved. To store the fruit until it is optimally ripe, it is recommended to store the fruit at room temperature. If necessary, the cherimoya can be cooled shortly before consumption - then the winter fruit tastes particularly good.

Cherimoya not only contains many nutrients, vitamins and hardly any fat, but is also rich in fiber, which is important for good digestion. Only diabetics are advised not to eat the exotic fruit, as it contains a lot of fructose, which causes blood sugar levels to skyrocket.
