The plant, which belongs to the buttercup family, is an early bloomer and is an important first source of food for numerous insects. It therefore has a high ecological value and is an enrichment for every garden.
When is the flowering time of the pasque flower?
The flowering period of the pasqueflower extends from the end of February or beginning of March to June. It depends on the location and opens its intense blue-purple petals on sunny spring days before closing again in the afternoon.
Attractive signs of spring
When the weather conditions are mild, the first calyxes appear at the end of February or beginning of March. Depending on the location, the flowering period extends into June. On sunny, mild spring days, the pasque flower petals open in the morning and close again in the afternoon.
Extremely pretty flowers
The five intense blue-violet petals are hairy on the outside and are about four centimeters long. Due to the dark coloring, the flowers conduct heat like a parabolic mirror in the middle of the flower to the stamens and ovaries. This attracts insects, which hungrily feast on the pollen.
The fruit heads ripen four to six weeks after flowering. They also look extremely attractive thanks to their long, silvery hair.
Very early flowering in the right location
Give the pasqueflower a place where the rays of the spring sun warm the ground early. The first flowers of the pasque flower stand here in an attractive contrast to the still wintery garden.
The pasqueflower thrives particularly well on sandy, gravelly, nutrient-poor and permeable soils. Since the pasque flower is not very competitive, you should plant the attractive early bloomer at a sufficient distance from other plants.

Remove dead flowers regularly. This consistent care stimulates the formation of new flowers and the pasque flower often even produces flowers a second time.
