To overwinter gladiolus bulbs in the cellar, they should be individually wrapped in newspaper or buried in dry sawdust. Temperatures between 5 and 12 degrees Celsius are ideal, in cellars, garden sheds, attics or garages.
Store gladiolus bulbs
According to general recommendations, the ideal room for wintering should not be warmer than five degrees. Thanks to modern heating systems, it is no longer that cold in many cellars. However, this is not a problem as the onions can cope well with temperatures of up to twelve degrees.
It may be that the gladiolus bulbs will germinate earlier than planned. If you continue to grow these bulbs in planters, they will bloom a little earlier than planned but will still bloom without any problems.
It is damp in some cellars. Here it is recommended to ventilate regularly and store the gladiolus bulbs as follows:
- Wrap individually in newspaper and renew regularly.
- Buried in a box with dry sawdust. The chips should also be replaced occasionally.

In many garden sheds it is warm enough for the gladiolus bulbs to overwinter. You can also store the tubers in a cool and airy attic or garage until spring.
