Do you finally want to plant the motherwort that is so popular with bumblebees in your own garden? Then you shouldn't hesitate, choose the right location and take action!
Which location is ideal for the mother team?
The motherwort requires a sunny to slightly partially shaded location, deep and humus-rich soil with good drainage and medium nutrient content. Plant it in a protected location and maintain a minimum distance of 40 cm from other plants.
Optimal: sunny to slightly partially shaded
The motherwort produces most of its flowers in a sunny location. But in a spot in partial shade, the whorled labial flowers last much longer. It should also be noted that it is best to plant this perennial in a protected location.
Everything the motherwort needs in the ground
The soil should be deep. Alternatively, tall pots are suitable for the mother team. The following features of the earth are important:
- Environment: moderately dry to moderately humid
- good drainage e.g. B. made of sand, pebbles
- humus-rich
- medium nutrient content (preferably nitrogen-rich)
Tip
No matter where you plant the motherwort, remember to maintain a minimum distance of 40 cm from other plants! The heart team gets wider and wider over the years!
