Are tulip bulbs poisonous to humans?
Tulip bulbs contain he alth-threatening glycosides called tuliposides. Consuming large quantities can cause nausea and vomiting. The plant sap can also cause skin irritation. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid contact with and consumption of tulip bulbs.
Tuliposides spoil the joy of tasting
Tulips are full of he alth-threatening glycosides. The poison control center at the University Hospital in Bonn draws attention to this. Tuliposides cause symptoms of poisoning when consumed intentionally or unintentionally. However, nausea and vomiting only occur when larger quantities of tulip bulbs are consumed. Skin contact threatens dermatitis
