Which bamboo is best for a hedge?
Since bamboo fargesia does not grow, you do not need to install growth barriers (rhizome barriers) in such a hedge. Planting a bamboo hedge

Since the bamboo is very thirsty, it should also be watered well. If the soil is not permeable enough, loosen it a little with sand or gravel.
How to care for your bamboo hedge
To keep the ground around your hedge moist for longer, you can create a mulching layer of bark mulch. Above all, water the young bamboo well and regularly. It should be watered at the latest when the bamboo curls up its leaves. This is also necessary in winter, otherwise the bamboo risks dying of thirst. However, it tolerates frost very well. Fargesias are hardy down to around – 20 °C or – 25 °C.
