Like many other types of palm trees, the Kentia palm can be cared for very well using hydroponics. It is then even easier to care for and you can't go wrong with watering or fertilizing. How to Grow Kentia Palms Hydroponically.
How to grow Kentia palms hydroponically?
To grow Kentia palms hydroponically, you will need a planter, waterproof planter, expanded clay, water level indicator, nutrients and decorative stones. Only grow hydroponic palms without soil and ensure adequate light access and regular fertilization.
What You Need to Hydroponic a Kentia Palm
- Planter
- waterproof planter
- expanded clay
- Water level indicator
- Nutrients
- Decorative stones
Since Kentia palms develop quite long taproots, the vessels must be as deep as possible. Only then can the palm tree produce many new fronds.
Only use the Kentia palm without soil
Only use plants that have been grown hydroponically. If the palm trees were initially in the ground, they are difficult to get used to.
If you still want to try it, you must make sure that the old plant substrate is completely removed. Otherwise there is a risk that the remaining soil will rot and the water will later stink.
How to Plant Kentia Palms Hydroponically
Place the pot and the water level indicator directly on the bottom of the pot. If the planter is very high, sprinkle a correspondingly high layer of expanded clay on the ground. The upper edge of the plant pot should be just below the planter. The water level indicator must protrude high enough out of the pot so that you can easily read it.
Fill the container with expanded clay. Fill the nutrient concentrate into the planter according to the instructions on the package.
Then add enough water to the pot so that the water level indicator shows the optimal height. Finally, you can decorate the Kentia palm with decorative stones if you wish.
Care for Kentia palm in hydroponics
Do not add new water until the water level indicator has been at minimum for four days. Then new water is poured in.
You must fertilize the Kentia palm according to the instructions on the package.
Even if it can be read often, it shouldn't be too dark. If there is too little light, the fronds change color and the palm tree does not grow optimally.
Tip
The non-toxic Kentia palms have been proven to contribute to a he althier indoor climate. The fronds clean the air and also produce a comparatively large amount of oxygen. That's why Kentia palms are very popular in offices.
