When cladding the interior walls of the arbor, it is usually about additional insulation. However, this can also make sense if you want to beautify the interior and, for example, wallpaper or plaster it. Covering the interior is very easy, with a little manual skill this work can be done in a short time.

How can I cover the inside of my garden house?

To clad the inside of a garden house, you need roof battens, plasterboard or profiled wooden boards, cordless screwdriver, jigsaw, staple gun and Spax screws. Create a slatted framework, optionally add insulation material and attach the cladding to the slats.

The tools you need

  • Cordless screwdriver
  • Jigsaw
  • Tacker

List of required materials

  • gypsum boards, furniture boards or profiled wood boards
  • Roof battens, if additional insulation is used, these should have the thickness of the insulation material
  • Spax screws

If you want to insulate, also use one of the following insulation materials:

  • Mineral wool
  • wood wool
  • Hemp fibers
  • Styrofoam plates

Slatted frame and insulation

First attach the roof battens so that a scaffolding is created. How you build this depends, among other things, on how large the plasterboard or profiled wooden boards that will be installed later are. If you want to insulate, the distances should be calculated so that the insulation materials fit exactly between the batten elements.

Pre-drill all holes with a thin drill bit, this will prevent the wood from splintering. The framework is then attached to the outside wall with Spax screws. The insulation material is then cut to size and inserted.

Attention: If you use mats made of glass or rock wool, you should definitely wear a face mask and gloves.

Attach the paneling

Now attach the plasterboard or furniture panels. The interior cladding is then painted, wallpapered or plastered according to your own taste.

If you have decided on profiled wooden boards, you should glaze them in advance. The grooves are attached to the battens with the stapler, so this work can be done very quickly.

Tip

You can dress up the ceiling in the same way. If you also want to give the floor (€23.00 on Amazon) a new look, you can use floorboards or durable OSB panels.
