Caring for the Cymbidium is not easy. In order for a flower shoot to develop, you must meet the orchid's location requirements. The Cymbidium will not bloom in a location that is too warm and the temperatures are always constant.
How do I promote flowering in Cymbidium orchids?
To encourage flower shoots in Cymbidium orchids, ensure varying temperatures from late summer onwards: 20 degrees during the day and 12 degrees at night. Heated living spaces are unsuitable; Unheated greenhouses or winter gardens offer optimal conditions.
The flower shoot only develops in cool temperatures
In order for the cymbidium to develop a flowering shoot, you must ensure changing temperatures from late summer onwards.
During the day the orchid should be kept at 20 degrees, at night the temperatures must drop to 12 degrees. If these temperature differences are not maintained, the cymbidium will not bloom. As soon as the flower shoots have developed, the different temperatures are no longer necessary.
The Cymbidium is therefore not necessarily suitable for the warm living room. From August onwards it is better kept in an unheated greenhouse or winter garden.
Tip
Cymbidium develops beautiful flowers that bloom in winter when properly cared for. The flowering period lasts several weeks in a good location.
