A freshly planted new bed is a pleasant sight, apparently not only for garden lovers but also for cats. Unfortunately, they don't just enjoy the sight; instead, they like to use such a bed as a litter box.
How can I protect my bed from cats?
To protect a bed from cats, prickly shoots (e.g. from roses or blackberries), coverings (fleece, bird netting, wire mesh), “piss off” plants or strips of aluminum foil on sticks can be used to deter cats and make the bed unattractive.
Finely crumbly, freshly raked soil seems to have an irresistible attraction for every cat. This applies, at least it seems, especially to freshly sown vegetable beds. But there are quite simple ways to keep cats away. Place a few prickly shoots from rose pruning or blackberries on the bed.
Alternatively, cut a few strips of aluminum foil and tie them to sticks that you stick into the bed in question. The crackling and glittering of the foil then stops the animals from continuing to use the bed as a litter box.
Remedies for deterring cats:
- Spikes and thorns
- Cover with fleece, bird net or wire mesh
- Fuck off plant
- Strips made of aluminum foil

You can also use aluminum foil to keep birds away from your beds.
