So that the flower bed looks attractive all year round and does not sink into inconspicuous insignificance after a short period of blooming, you should plan the planting carefully. A colorful mix of spring bloomers, summer and autumn flowers as well as evergreen plants ensures splashes of color all year round.

What planting plan should you use for a flower bed that blooms all year round?

For a flower bed that is attractive all year round, you should create a planting plan with magnificent perennials that bloom from June to October, such as girl's eye, magnificent candle or phlox, supplemented by spring bloomers, summer flowers, late-flowering species and evergreen plants such as woolly ziest or bergenia.

Planting plan: These flowers bloom all year round

The heart of every flower bed are large, magnificent perennials that have the longest possible flowering period and continually produce new flowers. Large-flowered girl's eye (Coreopsis grandiflora), magnificent candle (Gaura lindheimeri), scented nettle, stuffed Bertram's sheaf (Achillea ptarmica), spur flower (Centranthus ruber var. coccineus) or flame flower (Phlox) bloom tirelessly between June / July and October. Supplement these permanent bloomers with spring bloomers such as crocuses, daffodils or tulips, with summer flowers (annual and perennial), late-blooming species such as dahlias and asters and possibly roses. To make the bed look attractive even in winter and to brighten up the summer colors a little, plant evergreen plants every now and then. Suitable for this are woolly ziest (Stachys byzantina), bergenia (Bergenia) or the strikingly flowering palm lily (Yucca filamentosa) with its long, dark green leaves and clumpy growth.

Tip

A small tree or shrub is also very suitable as the center of the flower bed - especially the types that bloom in spring.
