How do you properly care for Siberian larch?
The care of the Siberian larch includes regular oiling with pigmented larch oil to prevent drying out, moisture penetration and the gray haze. A mild soapy water is recommended for cleaning. Preventative treatment such as pickling can be used if necessary.
Long-lasting even untreated
Larch wood that is not treated with protective and care products is still in good condition even after years. Siberian larch is harder than other larch species and is popular as a floor covering for terraces.
Prevent gray haze
Outdoors, the Siberian larch is exposed to wind and weather. Moisture and sunlight are the two components that gnaw at it the most. Over time, part of the surface decomposes and forms a silvery-gray patina. This is a natural protection against harmful UV radiation.
The gray discoloration is primarily a question of appearance, which not every owner likes. It can be prevented preventatively.

Tip
Staining is recommended if you want to change the color of the larch wood. However, it must first be treated with a resin-soluble agent.
Clean dirty surface
Siberian larch tolerates chemicals, but you should still use soapy water for cleaning. Special wooden floor soaps clean and also form a protective layer.
Coarse dirt can be removed with a brush. Bird droppings and other contamination should be removed as quickly as possible so that they do not leave unsightly stains on the wooden surface.
Extend lifespan
Although larch wood has a long service life even untreated, with the right care this can be extended for many more years. Of course, not all influences pass through this hard wood without leaving a trace.
Regular oiling protects the Siberian larch from drying out, moisture and mechanical stress. The wood also stays beautiful for longer. The hard wax oil has proven to be particularly effective, but it is pigmentless and does not prevent the gray haze.

A raised bed made of larch is particularly stable and durable. The wood can be used without treatment as it dries well after rain. This means that the bed and its contents remain 100% natural.
