Can you keep an ash tree as a bonsai?

The Formosana Ash
Ash trees are among the largest deciduous trees in Europe and, given their height, are less suitable for keeping in containers. However, the situation is completely different with the Formosana ash, a special subspecies from China that was bred specifically for bonsai cultivation. This variety reaches a maximum height of 15 m, which can be limited by regular pruning. It's not just their evergreen properties that make them the perfect indoor bonsai. Location
You can either cultivate the Formosana ash indoors at 16-20°C in a sunny place, or place it outdoors in the summer months. However, you should avoid direct sunlight here.

Pouring
Do not let the substrate dry out completely. In summer the water requirement is significantly higher than in winter.
Fertilize
In the summer you should give the Formosana ash weekly bonsai liquid fertilizer (€4.00 on Amazon). In winter, reduce the dose to every six weeks.
Cutting
All cutting shapes are suitable for the Formosana ash. However, the most popular is the upright shape. The great thing about the variety is its high cutting tolerance. Any errors grow quickly and have no consequences. However, you should not cut back too much. Initially, shaping cuts are necessary so that the branches branch out well. Only later will only disturbing branches be removed.
Repotting
Repot your bonsai ash tree into a larger container every two to three years. A root cut is recommended at the same time.
