The Palmengarten Frankfurt covers 22 hectares and is one of the largest gardens in Germany. Around 18,000 species from almost all vegetation zones on earth, cultivated in greenhouses or outdoors depending on their origin, have found a home here. This makes the Palmengarten one of the most species-rich botanical gardens in the world. A visit is worth it at any time of year, not just because of the generous glass surfaces.

Description
In the middle of the city of Frankfurt, located in the residential district of Westend, you can go on a botanical plant journey steeped in history. Founded by Duke Adolph of Nassau in 1868 due to financial hardship, the complex is now extremely modern. In addition to the entrance showhouse, the Tropicarium, Subantarctic House and numerous greenhouses are among the crowd pullers. In these, arranged according to the earth's climate zones, you can experience the magic of tropical forests and barren cactus landscapes up close.
Your walk through the outdoors takes you through various themed gardens, which change their appearance with the changing seasons. The Palmengarten also offers various events such as exhibitions, concerts, lectures and guided tours. The butterfly flight show, where you can observe exotic butterflies, is also very popular.
The Palmengarten Frankfurt doesn't just have a lot to offer those interested in nature. In the extensive complex you can play mini golf, go boating or explore the park on the Palm Express. Various restaurants and cafés invite you to enjoy culinary relaxation in the green oasis. The kids can let off steam in the beautifully designed children's playgrounds while you enjoy the peace and quiet.
Tip
Frankfurt offers a variety of other parks, each of which has its own charm. The “MainÄpplhaus Lohrberg” is something very special. The project is specifically dedicated to the topics of apples, horticulture and orchards. Here you can take interesting courses and learn, for example, how to care for fruit trees or how to make wine from apples. The attached nature adventure garden serves as a lively information center and meeting place for nature enthusiasts and hobby gardeners.
