When and how should you transplant a blood plum?
To successfully transplant a blood plum, choose early autumn as the ideal time, prepare the planting hole, avoid root damage and then regularly supply the plant with lime-free water (rainwater).
Basics
The ideal time for transplanting is early autumn, before the first frosts come. After the harvest, the young fruit tree can tolerate a change of location just in time for winter rest. Note that the deep root forms many small roots on the surface. These must not be damaged when digging.
Accordingly, the root ball must be completely exposed. It is slightly larger than the treetop. Prepare the planting hole in advance. This prevents the roots from drying out.

Planting
The hole must be approximately twice as large as the root ball. The soil in the sole is loosened slightly to avoid compaction of the soil. In addition, the excavation is enriched with humus (€31.00 on Amazon). Alternatively, a mixture of compost and horn shavings is suitable.
Tip:
Sandy soil is not suitable as a location for the ornamental tree.
Before planting, the root ball of the blood plum is soaked in plenty of water. Then position the blood plum in the center of the hole. Press down the soil occasionally while filling. In this way, the plant gets support and air holes are avoided. If necessary, a support post can be integrated for security directly when planting.
Subsequent care
After insertion, regular administration of lime-free water (rainwater) supports rooting. To ensure that the ground does not freeze during this important process, the tree should not be transplanted too late. A change of location in spring should generally be avoided.
Tips & Tricks
The blood plum delights with a lush yield in beds, orchards or even in pots. Dwarf varieties or weak-growing blood plums are ideal for narrow locations.
