Since dogs - in contrast to their ancestors, the wolves - are omnivores, most of them love fruit and vegetables, especially sweet fruit. However, dog owners should be careful, because many varieties that are so he althy for humans can have fatal consequences for their furry four-legged friends. In contrast to grapes, avocados and raw potatoes, the vitamin-rich pomelos are safe for dogs.
Are pomelos suitable for dogs?
Pomelos are safe for dogs and can be a he althy source of vitamins as they are rich in vitamin C and B vitamins. Before feeding, remove the shell, the thick white layer (albedo) and the tough membranes between the juice tubes.
Extra portion of vitamin C
The pomelo, a modern cross between pomelo and grapefruit, contains a lot of vitamin C as well as a number of B-series vitamins. However, the cross-breeding product tastes significantly milder than the two original species and is therefore liked by dogs. You can serve your four-legged friend the fruit slices either on their own or together with other fruits as a fruit salad or fruit porridge. To do this, however, you should peel the pomelo and thoroughly remove the thick white layer (called albedo) as well as the tough skins between the individual juice tubes. These ingredients have a bitter taste and should therefore not be consumed - neither by humans nor animals.
Tips & Tricks
