Snowdrops prefer a partially shaded location, especially under leafless trees. They thrive in loamy, humus-rich, nutrient-rich, neutral to slightly alkaline soil that neither dries out nor remains excessively wet. Summery freshness to slight humidity is desirable.
Sun – indirectly happy, directly reluctant

Earlier varieties prefer a sunny location to a partially shaded location. In general, snowdrops are undemanding and can even be planted in the shade if necessary.
