The ideal location for ferns is bright but not sunny, with a partially shaded to shady spot. The soil should be moist, but not wet, and consist of a loose, well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich and slightly acidic substrate.

The majority of ferns prefer to grow in a partially shaded to shady location. This is based on their origin or their natural occurrence in forests. It should be bright, but not sunny. Very few ferns like to grow in the sun.
Damp but not wet
You should also pay attention to the floor. Ferns need a moist but not wet environment. You will achieve excellent results if you plant your fern in a substrate with the following characteristics:
- easy
- permeable
- humus-rich
- nutrient-rich
- slightly sour
