They are made up of ray and ray florets and their shape is vaguely similar to the daisy flowers. However, the color spectrum of aster flowers is much broader. But when do the flowers appear?
When is the flowering time of asters?
Asters bloom from May to November depending on the type: spring asters in May, summer asters from July to August, autumn asters from September to October and winter asters from October to November. The combination of different species enables a long-lasting flowering period in the garden.
Spring, summer, autumn and winter
Here are the types of asters according to their flowering period:
- Spring asters (Alpine aster and Aster tongolensis)
- Summer asters (Aster amellus, Aster linosyris and Aster x frikartii)
- Autumn asters (cushion aster, myrtle aster, rough-leaf aster, smooth-leaf aster, blue forest aster and white forest aster)
- Winter asters (wild aster)
A long period: From May to November
The spring asters bloom in May. The summer asters reveal their flowers from July and into August. There are also a whole range of interesting and easy-to-propagate varieties of autumn asters. These bloom from September to October while the winter asters bloom from October to November.
