The first budding starts in March, the second budding begins in May and ends at the end of June.

First pruning in spring
The best time for the first pruning is February. At this time you can also radically shorten, thin out and rejuvenate the hedge.
Second pruning in summer
The second pruning takes place from St. John's Day, July 24th. With this cut you bring the beech hedge back into shape, so only trim it lightly.
Check beforehand whether there are still birds nesting in the hedge. If necessary, postpone cutting for a while or cut very generously around the nest.
You should no longer cut the beech hedge later than August. This stimulates new shoots. However, the branches no longer mature and freeze in winter.
