The tulip magnolia (Magnolia soulangeana) is not only one of the oldest magnolia varieties, but also one of the most impressive. The tree with the light pink, tulip-like flowers can grow to very impressive dimensions with a crown diameter of between eight and ten meters. For this reason, the tulip magnolia does not belong in small gardens, but feels most comfortable as a solitary plant with enough space.
Where should you plant a tulip magnolia?
The ideal location for a tulip magnolia (Magnolia soulangeana) is sunny and protected, preferably without cold easterly winds. The root area should be kept shady and moist, for example with mulching material.

Not only does the tulip magnolia require a lot of space, it also prefers a location that is as sunny and protected as possible. Shade the root area, especially in summer

Since magnolias are generally not particularly easy to cut, you should only plant the tree if there is enough space in the garden - the tulip magnolia generally does not tolerate pruning or transplanting due to a lack of space.
