From April to June, the sky-blue flowers of the Caucasus forget-me-not, which tolerates cutting well, are revealed. A beautiful light-dark contrast is created high above the heart-shaped foliage. But the flower display is not equally good in every location
What location does the Caucasus forget-me-not need?
The Caucasus forget-me-not prefers a semi-shady location, for example on the edge of the woods, the edge of the water or in the herbaceous bed. For optimal growth it requires moist, nutrient-rich and sandy-loamy soil with a slightly acidic pH value.
Best growing in partial shade
Both well-known varieties like 'Jack Frost' and insider tips like 'King's Ransom'® prefer to grow in partial shade. Locations that are not exposed to direct sun are ideal, for example on the edge of trees and water. But this plant can also feel at home in a perennial bed.
Substrate properties and suitable plant neighbors
The substrate should be moist, nutrient-rich and acidic. A sandy-loamy soil is ideal. Then the Caucasus forget-me-not also likes to make friends with plant neighbors like
- Primroses
- Daffodils
- Waldsteinia
- Funkia
- Ferns
Tip
The wetter the soil is, the more sun the Caucasus forget-me-not can tolerate and the less care it needs.
