While the large-flowered Braunelle is grown as a single perennial, the Small Braunelle can be wonderfully cultivated as a ground cover in the garden. Due to its rapid growth and spreading via runners, the plant forms dense cushions under trees and in front of trees.
The pretty white, red and purple flowers appear from June to August, attracting many insects and especially bees.
Tip
Since the Braunelle spreads widely via runners and seeds and quickly becomes a weed in the lawn, you should remove runners regularly. A root barrier does not help because the plant reproduces via above-ground runners.
