Venus fly traps are not pulled because of the pretty white flowers. The inflorescences are therefore usually cut off straight away. Only if you want to harvest seeds for propagating the Venus flytrap should you leave some flowers.
How do I harvest seeds from a Venus flytrap flower?
To harvest seeds from a Venus flytrap, leave a few flowers standing, pollinate them yourself with a brush if necessary, and wait for the seed pods to ripen. The ripe black seeds can then simply be shaken out.
Harvesting seeds from fertilized flowers
In order for seeds to form in the flowers, they must be pollinated. In nature and usually also in the room, insects do this job.
If you are worried that there are not enough insects for pollination in your area, simply fertilize the flowers yourself. To do this, you will need a brush (€4.00 on Amazon) with which you can brush over the carpels the flower.
When the flowers bloom, seed capsules form in which many of the black seeds ripen. They are ripe when they can be easily shaken out.
Tip
Since the Venus flytrap is a monotypic species of carnivorous plants, there are no subspecies. That's why identical offshoots can easily be grown from seeds.
