What temperature does a date palm need as a houseplant?
For date palms to be kept optimally indoors, they need around 25 degrees during the growth phase and 15 degrees in winter, but not less than 10 degrees. A bright and sunny location is essential to ensure he althy growth.
High temperatures during the growth phase
During the growth phase in summer, the date palm needs high temperatures. It is ideal if the temperature at the location is around 25 degrees.
Place the date palm as brightly and sunny as possible. But make sure that the leaves do not burn and turn brown.
Overwinter date palm cooler in winter
In winter, the date palm prefers cooler temperatures. During wintering, these should be around 15 degrees, but not lower than 10 degrees.
When kept outdoors, older date palms can tolerate frost temperatures down to -6 degrees, at least for a certain period of time.
Tip
