Dieffenbachia originally comes from the dense rainforests of South and Central America, where it thrives in the light shade of the jungle giants. The location preferences of our room hybrids are also based on this.
Which is the best location for a Dieffenbachia?
The ideal location for a Dieffenbachia is a bright to partially shaded place, preferably on an east or west window. Avoid direct sun, drafts, temperatures below 20 degrees and ensure sufficient humidity.
Dieffenbachia is not a sun worshiper
The plant with attractively colored foliage prefers a bright to semi-shady place on the windowsill. A south window is unsuitable; an east or west facing window is better. She also feels comfortable in a north window that is not too cool and dark.
You don't like constant drafts at all, so a location in front of a regularly tilted window or near a door is not ideal. Also pay attention to warmth, the temperature should not fall below twenty degrees, and ensure there is sufficient humidity.
Tip
If it is too dark for the Dieffenbachia in its place, it will produce smaller leaves that often no longer have a pattern and occasionally turn yellow. Then make the plant brighter or provide better lighting conditions with a plant lamp (€89.00 on Amazon).
