At the end of November, when it gets colder outside and gets dark early, Advent and Christmas markets with glittering lights attract people in almost every city. Unfortunately, the contemplation suffers a little in the well-known, large markets due to the large number of visitors. Things look completely different at the smaller Christmas markets, which score points with their romantic atmosphere and cozy ambience.
Which are the most beautiful Christmas markets?
The most beautiful Christmas markets offer a romantic atmosphere, special backdrops and atmospheric lighting. Particularly recommended are the Christmas market in the Ravenna Gorge, the Advent market in Füssen, the romantic Anno 1900 Christmas market in Dresden and the Carolinensiel winter market.
Christmas market in the Ravenna Gorge (Hochschwarzwald)
This very atmospheric market is taking place for the seventh time this year. Under the festively illuminated viaduct, around 50 traders offer handicrafts as well as savory and sweet speci alties from the Black Forest.

Romantic Christmas Market Anno 1900 Dresden
The traders at this very atmospheric Christmas market have tailored their offerings to the period between 1800 and 1920. Dressed in the attire of this era, they only offer traditional goods. The market focuses on idyll and cosiness and ensures that you can relax in the historical setting from the unfortunately often hectic pre-Christmas period.
The Christmas market takes place from November 30th to December 23rd. and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free.
Carolinensiel winter market
The museum harbor of the small North Sea Sieldorf forms the romantic backdrop for this Christmas market. Highlights are the floating Christmas tree and the many stalls that are set up along the Harle to the sea. In addition to regional speci alties or a stiff grog, you will find tasteful handicrafts and many small items that make wonderful gifts. The market opens on November 23rd and is also open over the holidays until January 3rd, 2020.
