Giving an award of this kind to a garden tool shows quite clearly how much technology is in a lawn mower these days, apart from a sharp knife. The GPS-controlled robotic lawnmower from Husqvarna was able to prevail against seven other smart garden helpers and with over 24 percent of Computerbild reader votes.
What does the Husqvarna Automower 450X offer as a robot lawn mower?
The Husqvarna Automower 450X is a GPS-controlled robot lawn mower that can mow lawns of up to 5,000 m² with a noise level of 58 dB(A). It has functions such as timer, theft protection and smartphone app control and costs 4,199 euros.
And: If you look at the technical data and interesting features that the little guy has, many a garden owner will probably get wet in the eyes when one of the Automower 450X is under the gift table at Christmas or is chopping up the tinsel under the tree. Although the 4,199 euros that the top model, for which you need two to five hours to carry out the initial installation, costs in the Swedes' own online shop is not really a bargain. After all, you could for that a lot of money and easily buy 84 of the high-quality scythes that we presented to you in our last newsletter from September. Admittedly, quality always comes at a price, especially in the gardening and DIY guild, and the 45 percent incline that the Husqvarna can manage is something that someone should first imitate with a traditional petrol lawnmower.

The climbing star can be used on lawns up to 5,000 m2 in size and, which is particularly important for good neighborly relationships, its noise level is pleasingly low at an average of 58 dB (A). The energy consumption is also 35 watts, so one battery charge is sufficient for the first 260 minutes. Thanks to the precise GPS control, the automatic mower “remembers” all the areas that have already been mowed and can do its job with pinpoint accuracy, even at night, without any supervision. However, the annoying boundary wires must first be carefully laid out on the edges of the lawn or around the cut flower islands. Obstacles such as trees and masonry no longer need to be rewired thanks to the integrated shock sensors. With the help of three free-swinging knives, the grass clippings are chopped particularly finely so that they then remain in place as natural fertilizer:
