When it comes to swimming pond maintenance, when it comes to the cloudiness in the natural pool, many people primarily think about replacing the water. However, you can save yourself the time and the not inconsiderable costs of a change because nature will regulate itself if it is given just a little time to do so. Depending on the size and location of the pond, care refers more to removing impurities in the pool. This particularly concerns the mud that accumulates on the bottom of the pool and the continuous care of the plants.
Protect pond plants from overgrowth
The shallow water and swamp areas require special attention, because the distinctive roots of the various species literally mutate into voluminous nests. Huge amounts of suspended matter can accumulate in these places, which in turn has a negative impact on the biological balance of the pond fauna. A well-thought-out thinning provides a remedy here, paying particular attention to:

As a result, rot occurs, which in turn accelerates the formation of algae. The only alternative: remove the gravel completely, which, however, requires pumping out the entire amount of water.
Care effort for the natural pool
Low, because it is natural, but it does not work without care and the regular removal of thread algae and leaves helps enormously to ensure that a swimming pond functions perfectly. In the first few years, minor dirt on the pond liner can be cleaned using simple mud vacuum cleaners. For older ponds, we recommend using professional equipment that can be rented from specialist retailers.
Tip
A lot of work can be saved if you regularly pay attention to plant residues floating around in the water when maintaining your swimming pond. It is best to fish these out of the tank several times a week if possible using a wooden or plastic rake, which has a telescopic rod and has a significantly greater reach.
