Why isn't my camellia blooming and how can I encourage it to bloom?
If your camellia isn't blooming, it could be due to too little light, a location that's too warm, incorrect fertilization or unsuitable soil. For lush flowers, you should pay attention to sufficient light, suitable temperature and acidic soil, as well as avoid fertilizing and moving during bud formation.

There are many reasons why a camellia may not bloom. They are not always easy to recognize, as care mistakes made a long time ago can also affect the flowering. The location also plays a major role in bud formation. During this time, the camellia needs a lot of light, but only a little warmth. A change of location during this time quickly leads to the buds falling off.
The root ball of a camellia should never dry out completely, but it should also not get too wet, otherwise the roots will rot. Both of these can cause your camellia to not bloom for a long time or to lose its flowers prematurely. Fertilizing too much stimulates shoot growth, but at the same time inhibits bud formation. How can I encourage camellias to bloom profusely?

Stimulate the camellia to bloom:
- leave it outside for as long as possible
- lots of light during bud formation
- ensure high humidity during shoot formation, spray the plant if necessary
- stop fertilization immediately after the buds have set
- Never allow root balls to dry out
- Avoid frost damage
- If possible, do not move the camellia during bud formation and flowering
- Avoid too much heat, ideal temperature during flowering: around 15 °C
