Why sweat in an expensive gym when you can train in your own green? Exercising in the fresh air is not only he althy, it is also much more fun, especially when you are active with your family or partner. With our tips, the garden becomes a fitness arena.
What sports can you practice in your own garden?
In your own garden you can jump on the trampoline, do aqua aerobics in the pool, jump rope or play badminton. These activities promote fitness, burn calories and are particularly fun in the great outdoors.
Swing or jump on the trampoline
It puts you in a good mood and is also extremely he althy: training on the trampoline. Even NASA has long included working out between gravity and weightlessness in its fitness program. Even when you swing and keep your feet on the mat, your metabolism is activated and oxygen is pumped into every cell. This training outdoors is particularly effective because the air here is very rich in oxygen.
However, the trampoline is not entirely harmless sports equipment. Therefore, only let the kids jump individually. Everyone has their own jumping speed and if a child becomes unbalanced, this could result in serious injury.
Aqua gymnastics
A garden pool is not only great for children who love to romp around in the cool water on hot days. Aqua gymnastics trains the muscles and burns a lot of calories. The water level in the pool should reach at least your belly button.
The risk of injury is very low with this sport, making it ideal for the whole family. You can find a variety of exercises on the Internet or you can learn them in an aqua gymnastics course and later do them in your own pool.
You should always supervise small children and cover the pool when not in use, as the risk of drowning is still very high for small children.
Jump rope
It's not just children who like hopping to get fit. To jump rope, all you need is a sufficiently long rope (€8.00 on Amazon) with a central center of gravity. Wear a heart rate monitor when exercising. This means you can keep an eye on your heart rate and train in the optimal range.
This workout will help you burn calories faster than many other exercises. Jumping rope for ten minutes is just as effective as jogging for half an hour. The lawn is a slightly springy surface, so the joints are protected. However, you should wear good sports shoes with cushioning when jumping rope.
Play badminton
This game involves hitting a shuttlecock back and forth using a special racket. It's all about keeping the ball in the air for as long as possible. Despite the moderate pace, strength, speed and endurance are trained effectively.
Tip
Grab the Frisbee again. If you have a larger garden, you can add variety to your training with a disc golf basket. This relatively young sport, which only came to us in the 1970s, is particularly popular with children and young people.
