Description

One of the main attractions of the extensive area is probably the water axis, which the planning garden architect Reinhold Lingner had created at the interface between the historical park and the new exhibition grounds. Surrounded by tall trees, you can relax wonderfully here.

If you would like to let your gaze wander over the area, it is worth climbing to the viewing platform 272 meters above sea level. The observation tower is one of the oldest surviving parts of the Cyriaksburg Fortress and was built in 1530 as a southern gun tower.

Children can play and run around to their heart's content in Egapark. The beautifully designed playground was recently modernized. Bean track, strawberry cactus slide, cress race, pole hanging and many other attractions provide variety. On the farm, children can not only experience animals up close, but can even create their own flowerbed.

Tip

The Hainich National Park is not far from Erfurt. At 130 km², this ridge is the largest contiguous deciduous forest area in Germany. The Hainich is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because the remaining remains of uncut primeval beech forests of Central European character grow here.
