Which remedies help against grubs in the garden?
To combat grubs chemically, products such as Agritox EngerlingFrei, Nurelle D 550EC Dow Agro, Pyrinex 480 EC – Adama or Perlka lime nitrogen can be used. However, please note that these agents may also be toxic to other organisms and possibly to humans.
Biological grub control has priority
Grubs in the lawn, in the vegetable patch or in flower pots can be annoying, no question about it. Agritox EngerlingFrei is an insecticide and primarily combats grubs, wireworms and also aphids and scale insects. Its active ingredient, chlorpyrifos, acts as a contact, feeding and respiratory poison and is expected to be approved as a plant protection product in the EU until the beginning of 2020. However, studies show that vegetable plants sprayed with the agent retain residues that are also toxic to humans when ingested.
Agritox – EngerlingFREI is diluted with water to form a spray mixture, whereby careful attention must be paid to the correct dosage.
Nurelle D 550EC Dow Agro and Pyrinex 480 EC – Adama are also based on chlorpyrifos, but are significantly more concentrated.
Perlka Lime nitrogen: Lime nitrogen consists of lime, nitrate and calcium cyanamide, which is broken down into slaked lime and toxic cyanamide when applied. However, this is completely broken down by microorganisms within 2 weeks.
