The twisted branches of the corkscrew or zigzag willow are often used to naturally decorate living spaces. But they are also wonderfully suitable as a basis for a variety of crafts. You can find some easy-to-implement suggestions in this article.
What can you make with corkscrew willow?
You can use corkscrew willow to create simple and creative crafts such as flower wreaths, wall decorations and wish trees. To do this you will need fresh or dried twigs, natural materials, ribbon and hot glue. Let your imagination run wild when designing.
Corkscrew willow flower wreath
Material list
- 5 to 6 fresh zigzag willow branches
- Fresh or dried flowers
- Color matching ribbon
- Flower Wire
Execution
- Bend the willow branches a little. This makes them soft and makes them easier to twist into a wreath.
- Wrap the branches around themselves one after the other and wire them so that the branches can no longer come loose.
- Wrap the ribbon around one spot and tie it into a large bow.
- If you want to hang the wreath, form a loop with the ribbon on the opposite side.
- Due to the irregular growth of the zigzag willow, this wreath has many small gaps into which you can now insert the flowers.
A very pretty decoration for the entrance door or the garden table is ready.
Decorated branch as wall decoration
Green walls and natural materials are very popular as living room decorations. With a particularly beautifully shaped corkscrew willow branch and natural materials, you can make such a wall decoration yourself inexpensively.
Material list
- At least 80 centimeters long, richly branched zigzag willow branch
- Moose
- dried grasses or cones
- Sisal cord
- Hot glue gun
Execution
- First attach the sisal cord to the willow branch so that a stable suspension is created.
- Carefully pluck the moss apart and stick the upper part of the branch with this material.
- Finally, you can add some grasses or cones.
- The aim should be to create a not too overloaded look that is reminiscent of a tree in nature.
Wishing tree made of dried zigzag willow
A wishing tree enriches the home in many ways. For example, it can be decorated with fairy lights or used as a guest book for the party. If you place several of these decorative trees next to each other, you will create a light and extremely attractive room divider.
Material list
- At least 5 dried corkscrew willow branches about 100 to 120 centimeters long
- Tree slice or wooden board
- Hot glue
- Optional: decorative material
Execution
- Measure the diameter of the bottom of the branches.
- Drill slightly larger holes some distance apart in the center of the tree disc. You can arrange the corkscrew willow in parallel on a board.
- Fix the branches in the drill holes with hot glue.
- Arrange the branches so that an attractive picture is created.
- Finally, decorate with a string of lights, felt figures or decorative hangers made from natural materials. There are no limits to your imagination.
Tip
A particularly beautifully shaped corkscrew willow branch can be used to make a great mobile for the children's room. Hang the branch in a corner of the room and attach commercially available or homemade mobile figures to it.
