Which anemone can be added to the aquarium?
Anemones for s altwater aquariums are usuallyhost anemonesfor anemone crabs, shrimps or fish, although the latter are not absolutely necessary for the specific species. So that you can enjoy the flower animal for a long time, you should make the purchase decision based on the difficulty of care:
- medium: bubble anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor), carpet anemone (Stichodactyla haddoni)
- heavy: leather anemone (Heteractis crispa), sand anemone (Heteractis aurora)
- very heavy: knobbed anemone (Cryptodendrum adhaesivum), giant anemone (Stichodactyla gigantea)
How do I insert the anemone?
The anemone is inserted inthree steps:
- Temperature compensation: Hang the closed transport container containing the sea anemone in the aquarium for some time.
- Water change: Constantly replace the water in the container with sea water from your own tank. Take an hour to change the water.
- Carefully take the anemone out of the transport container and place the flower animal in a suitable place in the aquarium. Make sure that the lighting conditions in the tank correspond to those in the container.
Can the anemone be placed specifically in the aquarium?
Specifically placing an anemone in the aquarium isonly possible to a limited extent, as the flower animals choose their own place. To do this, the sea anemone wanders around in the tank until it has found the ideal spot. However, the aquarist has the opportunity to influence the animal's search for a place by offering it species-appropriate places:
- Areas with medium to strong indirect flow
- strong UV lighting (e.g.: LEDs (€39.00 on Amazon) or T5 tubes)
Tip
Identifying a he althy anemone
Unfortunately, sea anemones are not always treated in a species-appropriate manner. If you buy a sick or weakened anemone, the chances that it will survive being moved to your own aquarium are slim. You should not buy bleached or colored anemones. The foot must not have any injuries or other damage. The mouth of a he althy sea anemone is closed and clean.
