If you want to enjoy hibiscus and its magnificent flowers for a long time, you have to water your plants well. Garden marshmallow (rose marshmallow) and indoor hibiscus need a lot of water, but do not like waterlogging. It's all about the right ratio.
How should you water a hibiscus properly?
Hibiscus plants require regular watering, especially in mid-summer and after transplanting. Use stale rainwater, water in the morning and allow the soil to dry between watering to avoid waterlogging. During the rest period, the ball of indoor hibiscus should not dry out.
Garden Marshmallow
In the event of prolonged drought, the garden marshmallow quickly drops its flowers, even the unopened ones. Therefore, the hibiscus should be watered regularly, especially in midsummer, preferably in the morning and with stale rainwater.
Regular watering is also necessary after replanting or transplanting a hibiscus bush. Nevertheless, the hibiscus is very sensitive to waterlogging. To prevent the roots of the shrub from rotting, you should always let the soil dry out between watering.
Chinese Hibiscus
The Chinese hibiscus is usually kept indoors as a potted plant. During the growing season, the hibiscus needs to be watered regularly. During the rest period, only water enough to ensure that the bale does not dry out.
To avoid waterlogging, always drain excess water from the planter or saucer. If the indoor hibiscus is watered sufficiently, it tolerates being close to the heater well.
